The Jikin is also known as the Peacock Tail because the caudal fins are splayed and spread open when viewed from the top. This breed is believed to have been developed from the Wakin in Japan. It is known to be one of the more difficult varieties to breed to exacting standards. It is speculated that some breeders resort to un-natural methods such as surgery to produce the perfect tail on the Jikin.

The variety displays identical coloration to the Wakin. It is popular in the Far East but is still relatively rare and expensive. It is even less common is the Western world.
